A Lafayette native is the gold medalist for pole vault in the Olympics, and then some.
After winning the gold on Monday, Mondo Duplantis continued to jump in a successful effort to break his own record.
Duplantis competes for his mother's native Sweden, so after he set the new record, he ran around the stadium with the Swedish flag. His parents were watching from the stands.
Sam Kendricks took the silver medal for the United States, and Emmanouli Karalis of Greece won the bronze.
