The latest Louisiana Educational Assessment Program test scores show progress, but there's still work to be done.
Department of Education Superintendent Dr. Cade Brumley says the department's efforts in recent years are showing results.
Brumley says Louisiana students are maintaining the gains they've made over the past few years.
He says the next steps will be an emphasis on math to keep those scores up following fourth grade, and ending social promotion of third graders who can't read well enough.
