Qualifying for the November 5th election in Louisiana is underway.
Besides the presidential election, other major races this year include the 6th Congressional District and the Public Service Commission.
In the race for the 6th District seat, former Rep. Cleo Fields is in the lead against fellow Democrat Quentin Anthony Anderson and Republican Elbert Guillory.
Three Republicans have announced candidacies for the five-member Public Service Commission, but no Democrats so far.
To qualify for the November ballot, candidates must go to the Louisiana State Archives in Baton Rouge sometime today through Friday.
