The U.S. death toll from Hurricane Beryl is up to at least eight.
Seven people were confirmed dead Monday in the Houston area, after the Category 1 storm brought flooding, heavy rain and high winds to the area.
Some were killed by falling trees, while another was killed in a house fire sparked by the storm. Another drowned trying to drive through high water.
The Louisiana Department of Health reported one storm-related death in Bossier Parish, where a 31-year-old woman died after a tree fell on her home in Benton.
Beryl killed at least 12 people in the Caribbean as it roared through the region as a monster Category 5 storm.
The storm has weakened significantly but still poses risks to Oklahoma, Arkansas and southern Missouri.
