The National Hurricane Center is looking to the same area as a potential tropical cyclone for more development in the coming days.
"Another broad area of low pressure is forecast to develop over the southwestern Gulf of Mexico this weekend," said the NHC Tuesday morning. "Environmental conditions are expected to be conducive for gradual development of this system early next week while it moves slowly northward or northwestward."
Development chances are on the low side for now.
The area under watch is also where a potential tropical cyclone could form by tomorrow morning.
A Tropical Storm warning is now in effect for the coasts of Texas and Mexico, but no direct impacts are expected from southern Louisiana from this system. The National Weather Service office in Slidell notes that due to its broad structure, some indirect impacts are possible in the forms of coastal flooding, locally heavy rains and gusty winds.
Parts of South Louisiana are under a marginal risk of flash flooding through Wednesday, though the heaviest rain amounts will be well to our west.
