A plastic surgeon from Florida was arrested for allegedly killing his wife while she was undergoing surgery last year. Authorities accused Dr. Ben Brown of overmedicating his wife, Hillary Brown, last November while he was performing a miniature muscle plication/abdominal scar revision, bilateral arm liposuction, lip injection, and ear adjustment on her at his office in Gulf Breeze on November 21, 2023.

Hillary, who was not an anesthesiologist, was allowed to prepare her own anesthesia ahead of the surgery. She also took tramadol, Zofran, and valium, along with a handful of pills that her husband didn't document.

During the procedures, Hillary began twitching but continued on, even as medical assistance suggested they call 911. Her condition worsened, and at one point, she started "seeing orange."

However, he continued to operate, injecting lidocaine and xylocaine into her face. When she became unresponsive, he still refused to call 911 and did not immediately begin to perform CPR.

Eventually, Hillary was taken to the hospital, where she died a week later.

The Santa Rosa Sheriff's Office said that Dr. Brown was taken into custody and charged with second-degree felony homicide: manslaughter by culpable negligence.
