A former LSU baseball coach is set to become the head coach of an SEC rival.
Paul Mainieri is expected to be named the new head coach at South Carolina.
The 66-year-old has been out of coaching for the last three seasons after announcing his retirement from LSU following the 2021 season.
He had a record of 641-283-3 while coaching the Tigers from 2007-2021.
LSU baseball's associate director of program development and recruiting Terry Rooney is reportedly joining Mainieri with the Gamecocks.
