Residents of the greater Baton Rouge area are dealing with damage and power outages after severe storms swept through on Tuesday night.

The National Weather Service says a tornado possibly touched down near the intersection of State Highways 1045 and 1046, just west of Amite City. State troopers temporarily closed I-55 in the area.

The Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office says a tree fell on a home in Holden, and lightning set fire to an apartment building in Denham Springs.

No injuries or deaths have been reported.

Another round of strong storms is possible for the area on Wednesday.
