St. George Opponents Ask State Supreme Court To Reconsider Incorporation OK

Opponents of the incorporation of the new city of St. George are asking the Louisiana Supreme Court to reconsider its ruling giving it the green light.

Attorneys filed the paperwork on Thursday to request the high court either to rehear the matter, or else reinstate two lower court rulings that blocked the incorporation effort.

The Supreme Court ruled 4-3 on April 25 to OK the creation of Louisiana's fifth-largest city, with a population of more than 100,000.

Opponents say Baton Rouge will never be the same.
