A state legislator is working on a bill to allow teachers with the proper training to carry guns on campus.
State Rep. Lauren Ventrella, a Republican from Greenwell Spring, says there should be enough pro-Second Amendment lawmakers to get the bill to Gov. Jeff Landry's desk.
Anti-gun groups such as Moms Demand Action are opposed to any such bill.
The state Board of Elementary and Secondary Education as a whole hasn't taken a position on the bill, which has yet to be considered by the House Committee on Criminal Justice.
