A new ruling from the Environmental Protection Agency will affect more than 200 chemical plants nationwide, including 51 in Louisiana.

The EPA's mandate to reduce emissions is expected to reduce elevated cancer risk in communities by 96 percent.

Residents near the Denka and DuPont plants in Reserve have long blamed the presence of the plants for cancer clusters in their community.

Tuesday's ruling gives chemical plants two years to comply.
