A former Addis police officer will serve at least ten years in prison after pleading guilty on Monday to charges related to a deadly high-speed chase.

David Cauthron was involved in the chase on New Year's Eve 2022 when he crashed into another car, killing two Brusly High School cheerleaders and seriously injuring the brother of one of the girls.

Cauthron, charged with two counts of manslaughter, one count of negligent injury, and other charges, was sentenced to 32 years with 22 years suspended.

If he doesn't show up at the West Baton Rouge Parish Jail on May 23, he'll serve the full 32 years.
