Officials are sounding the all-clear after retrieving a piece of radioactive industrial equipment from a Baton Rouge canal on Sunday evening.

Somehow an old industrial X-ray camera ended up in the water near Corporate Boulevard.

HazMat crews from the Baton Rouge Fire Department responded to the incident, assisted by the Department of Environmental Quality. They removed the object by 10 p.m.

Officials say the radiation from the equipment never posed a threat to the public.

They don't know how or why the camera was in the canal.
