House Speaker Mike Johnson is blaming President Biden for what he called a "catastrophe" on the southern border.
In his first floor speech as Speaker, Johnson accused the Biden administration of trying to shift blame for the border crisis to Congress.
Johnson said Biden has the authority to significantly reduce the record number of border crossings and shut down the border without action from Congress.
This comes as a bipartisan group of Senators and Biden administration officials are expected to strike a deal on border policy changes, which Johnson has said would be dead on arrival in his chamber.
Biden has said he would shut down the U.S.-Mexico border if given the authority by Congress.
