It's surprising what people will throw away.
Volunteers with the group Keep Tiger Town Beautiful found a loaded handgun while picking up trash on Wednesday morning.
The "litter warriors" found the 9mm pistol near a Holiday Inn on Airline Highway in Baton Rouge.
Jennifer Richardson, the group's founder, says they're glad to get the gun off the streets and out of the wrong hands.
She says the volunteers called Baton Rouge police, who collected the gun.
