Officials are identifying the seven people who were killed in Monday morning's traffic pileup on I-55.
The St. John Parish Coroner's Office says the victims are 48-year-old Nakia Gaines of New Orleans, his six-year-old son Mason Gaines of Madisonville, 21-year-old Corinne Hebert of Plaquemine, 50-year-old Fernando DeMoraes of Chalmette, 38-year-old Jose Valle of Chalmette, 87-year-old James Fleming of Missouri, and 47-years-old Quatab Negi, a popular chef from Hammond.
Dozens of other people were hospitalized in the pileup, which involved 168 vehicles.
NOTE: This story has been updated to reflect Louisiana State Police revising the death toll of the accidents down to seven on Friday.
