Louisiana Elected Officials Respond To Election Of Johnson As House Speaker

Louisiana's elected officials are responding to the election of Louisiana Republican Rep. Mike Johnson as Speaker of the House.

Gov. John Bel Edwards expressed his congratulations, as did Attorney General Jeff Landry, who recently won the governor's race.

GOP Senators John Kennedy and Bill Cassidy said Johnson is the right man for the job.

Rep. Steve Scalise, who was himself in the running for the position, sent congratulations.

Democratic Rep. Troy Carter said he hopes Johnson can "bring order back to" the House.
