A high ranking Baton Rouge police officer whose son was arrested for allegedly tasing a handcuffed suspect is being placed on leave.
Deputy Chief Troy Lawrence, Sr. is taking a step back one week after Troy Lawrence, Jr. was charged with simple battery for the incident last month.
It comes as the department faces a federal investigation over allegations of misconduct by the department's street crimes unit, which included Lawrence, Jr. and was previously led by his father.
Lawrence, Jr. resigned from the department in August, while two other former street crimes officers are on leave.
