Investigators are searching for 18 suspects connected to a $9.8 million car theft scheme.
The Louisiana State Police Insurance Fraud and Auto Theft Unit said they identified 34 suspects who transacted 180 vehicles using altered or fraudulent documents to avoid taxes.
Investigators say the total estimated amount of tax fraud is over $300,000
Detectives learned the suspects were working together as a criminal organization and have arrested 16 individuals.
Officials say the suspects are facing forgery, filing false public records and felony theft charges.
