Investigation Underway Into Explosions, Fire At Dow Chemical In Plaquemine

Company and local officials are trying to determine the cause of several explosions at the Dow Chemical plant in Iberville Parish on Friday night.

No injuries were reported and all employees were accounted for following the explosions at around 9:15 p.m.

Dow officials say the explosions and fire happened in the facility's Glycol 2 unit.

A shelter in place order was in effect for local residents until 5 a.m. Saturday.

Air monitoring outside the plant reportedly didn't detect the presence of any dangerous chemicals.
