Louisiana lawmakers are advancing a proposal to create a task force to review high-speed police chases.
The House and the Senate passed the proposal in response to the deaths of a pair of cheerleaders during a police chase in the Baton Rouge area on New Year's Eve.
The task force would include a member of the Louisiana Sheriffs Association, the Police Chiefs Association, the District Attorney's Association, a state representative, and a senator to serve as chairman.
The task force would study what went wrong during several deadly police chases.
