Investigators Return Most Of The Money Scammed From Larose Woman

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office says they've recovered most of the money stolen from a Larose woman who fell for a phone scam.

The victim reported about a month ago that she'd received a call from somebody claiming to be with Social Security.

In several transactions, the victim wired more than $146,000 to the scammer.

The sheriff's office worked with the bank to locate the scam account and recover $122,000 of the victim's money.

Officials say a search warrant for the account holder has been submitted.
