A proposed law would require all high school students in Louisiana to learn about organ donation.

Rep. Barry Ivey wrote the bill in honor of Aliye Ringe, a 16-year-old from Baton Rouge who died in December 2021.

She decided to become an organ donor after she got her driver's license, and following her death in a car crash, her organs saved five lives on Christmas Day.

The proposed bill would require public schools to incorporate at least a 30 minute lesson about organ donation into their existing curriculum.
