An officer is wounded and a suspect is dead after a shootout at a shopping center in Denham Springs Thursday afternoon.
Police responded after 4 p.m. to a disturbance between a couple and the suspect, identified as 30-year-old Justin Roberts.
Officers say Roberts shot Cpl. Shawn Kelly and then drove away.
Livingston Parish deputies later shot Roberts at a different location, and he died at the hospital.
Kelly is reportedly in critical condition.
