House Republican Barbara Freiberg is proposing a bill to put more police in the area around the LSU campus.
Freiberg lives in the area, and says she's been contacted by people at LSU and business owners near the campus who are concerned about the rise in crime.
If the bill becomes law, residents of the proposed security district would vote to decide how much to tax themselves to fund better security, lighting, and other safety measures.
