A Republican state senator is proposing a bill to raise the minimum age to enter a bar in Louisiana to 21.

People age 18 and up are allowed to enter bars in Louisiana, though they can't legally buy drinks.

State Senator Beth Mizell says the death of LSU student Madison Brooks in January indicates it's time to make a change.

Mizell points out that three of the suspects involved were under 21 when they encountered Brooks in a bar.

Mizell's bill, known as the Card 'Em Act, would ban anyone under age 21 from entering Louisiana bars.
