Louisiana Department of Health Secretary Dr. Courtney Phillips is stepping down after three years on the job.
Gov. John Bel Edwards announced on Monday that Phillips had submitted her resignation, effective Thursday of this week.
Stephen Russo, the agency's director of legal, audit and regulatory affairs, will serve as secretary afterwards.
Phillips was named LDH secretary in April 2020 at the start of the pandemic.
Gov. Edwards praised her job performance during the emergency.
