The family of an LSU student that died in a hazing incident is being awarded more than $6 million.

The Advocate reports a jury has determined that the parents of Max Gruver should receive $6.1 million in a wrongful death lawsuit filed against the university along with Phi Delta Theta and members of the fraternity.

Gruver died of alcohol poisoning in 2017 after he and other fraternity pledges were forced to drink a large amount of a high-volume grain alcohol known as Diesel.

His parents had already reached settlements with most of the defendants before yesterday's ruling.
