The head of the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry is expected to announce his candidacy for governor on Thursday.
Stephen Waguespack is reportedly telling board members of his group that he's about to jump into the race.
The Republican official was Gov. Bobby Jindal's chief of staff and served as a member of the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education.
Waguespack has been the head of LABI since 2013.
