Livingston Parish is declaring itself a Second Amendment Sanctuary.
Members of the Parish Council unanimously passed Councilman Jeff Ard's resolution on Thursday night to show their support for the right to keep and bear arms.
Ard says the resolution makes it clear that the parish will defend its residents' gun rights from interference by the state and local government, if necessary.
The Pointe Coupee Parish Council passed a similar ordinance last year.
