The Baton Rouge Metro Council is calling for a study of a resolution to keep mental hospitals away from neighborhoods and schools.
Councilman Darryl Hurst proposed the resolution that would keep psychiatric hospitals at least a mile from a neighborhood and two miles from a school.
After considerable debate involving community members on Wednesday, council members removed the item from consideration.
The council approved a study to make sure Hurst's resolution is legal and to follow through from there.
