A former Denham Springs police officer faces suspended sentences after pleading guilty to an inappropriate relationship with a minor.
Joseph Copeland, 30, pleaded guilty Monday to malfeasance in office and carnal knowledge of a juvenile.
After an investigation of Copeland started last year, he resigned from the force and fled to Texas, where he was later arrested.
The court imposed a ten-year suspended sentence for the malfeasance charge and a five-year suspended sentence for the carnal knowledge charge.
Each conviction also involves three years of probation.
