A special session of the state legislature is scheduled to start today to address the homeowners' insurance crisis in Louisiana.
Gov. John Bel Edwards called the session last week.
Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon says the Insure Louisiana Incentive Fund must be funded sooner than the start of the regular legislative session in April.
Following the hurricane seasons of 2020 and 2021, many insurers either went broke or fled the state.
The session is scheduled to continue until Sunday.
