East Baton Rouge District Attorney Hillar Moore is urging the Louisiana legislature to overhaul the state's juvenile justice system.
Moore made his comments at a news conference on Wednesday, along with other Baton Rouge leaders.
The district attorney said it's unfair to victims and to the public that the state can only detain violent young offenders until they're 21, unless they're tried as adults.
Moore said he believes the sentencing structure should be changed to keep young repeat offenders from committing more crimes.
