A property tax millage in support of the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office is on the ballot in this month's election.
The millage referred to as the Law Enforcement District has appeared on ballots since 1994.
The tax millage generates about $35 million, almost a third of the budget of the sheriff's office. It pays for everyday operations, patrol operations, and school safety.
Early voting in Louisiana ends on December 3. Election day is December 10.
