Several homes in St. James Parish are being evacuated after a train derailment caused a leak of hydrochloric acid Wednesday.
Officials say residents near Perry and Bourgeois Roads in Paulina are being cleared out after the train carrying the acid jumped the tracks and derailed this afternoon.
Part of Highway 44 is shut down as well.
There are no reports of injuries at this time.
