The LSU football program is being placed on probation for one year due to recruiting violations after the NCAA handed down penalties Thursday.

Former offensive line coach James Cregg admitted to meeting with a high school player during the COVID pandemic, at a time when recruiting was supposed to be off-limits.

Cregg has since been fired, a decision he sued the university over.

A judge ruled in favor of Cregg, but LSU has plans to appeal.
