Baton Rouge officials held a press conference Thursday in response to recent increase in violent crimes.

Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome says authorities are deploying several strategies to address the rise in crime over the past two weeks.

Among those are investigations into gun-involved crimes and focusing officers' attention to street crimes in high-risk areas.

Baton Rouge police also gave an update on the investigation into the fatal shooting of LSU student Allison Rice, stating that they do not believe she was targeted.
