Stiffer penalties are now in effect for stunt drivers and their spectators on public roads in East Baton Rouge Parish.

District 3 Councilman Rowdy Gaudet drafted the ordinance.

Fines for first-time violators are now doubled to $1,000.

Each separate offense could mean prison time of ten to 90 days. Drivers could also have their licenses suspended and their cars impounded.

The same penalties will apply to spectators and people who advertise the events on social media.
