The Office of Juvenile Justice is temporarily moving young offenders from the Bridge City for Youth in Jefferson Parish during renovations.
Some of the most violent juveniles are being moved to the Jetson Center in Baker, which houses female inmates.
About a dozen juveniles will be moved at a time on a rotating basis to complete security upgrades at Bridge City, which has seen escapes, riots, and assaults on guards in the past year.
Officials say they'll be able to keep the male and female inmates separated.
