Louisiana OMV: Renew Drivers License Before A Hurricane Hits

The Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles says the time is now to renew certain paperwork items in case a hurricane or tropical storm hits town.

OMV officials say residents shouldn't wait to renew their driver's licenses, vehicle registrations, and ID cards. A severe storm can cause widespread power outages, making renewals impossible.

Credentials may be needed to obtain housing, food, and other assistance after a storm.

The items in question may be renewed up to 90 days before the expiration date at expresslane.org.
