A six-year-old boy is recovering in the hospital after being bitten by an alligator in Lake Maurepas.
Gavin Cressione and his family were on a boat trip on Sunday when they stopped to swim at a sandbar near the mouth of the Tickfaw River.
The gator bit Gavin on the right ankle. His family rushed him to the hospital.
Livingston Parish Fire District 2 posted a warning on Facebook reminding people to stop feeding the alligators. It's illegal because it makes them more likely to approach swimmers and boaters.
