Appeal Planned Of Court Ruling Denying Breakaway City Of St. George

Organizers for the incorporation of St. George say they plan to file for an appeal of a judge's order nixing the move.

Retired District Court Judge Martin Coady ruled in May St. George residents could not break off from Baton Rouge and create their own city.

St. George boosters Andrew Murrell and Chris Rials updated the situation at the South East Baton Rouge Rotary.

They say they plan to appeal, claiming the proposed city has enough revenue and the support of law enforcement.
