The National Hurricane Center has circled an area in the Bay of Campeche that could see some activity next week.
The area of low pressure could develop from the remnants of Tropical Storm Agatha, which formed in the Pacific Ocean over the weekend and is expected to move inland over Mexico by Monday.
After emerging into the Bay of Campeche, the NHC said some gradual development is possible while the system drifts eastward.
There is no immediate threat to the Gulf Coast at this time.
The 2022 Atlantic hurricane season officially begins June 1.
