The Department of Transportation and Development plans to start work this summer on some bridges that are part of a flood control program.

The department will ultimately build four bridges over the Comite River Diversion Canal, including one each on State Highways 67 and 964, and two on State Highway 21.

Residents of the Zachary and Baker area called for some solutions to the region's flooding problems following the 2016 flood. The bridges are part of the $353 million flood mitigation project.
