Ascension Parish officials are extending last year's moratorium on development through May 31.
The parish council put the moratorium in place last July as a way of dealing with the changes brought by the area's rapid growth.
Council members agreed on Thursday to extend the moratorium because of ongoing changes in the Unified Land Development Code having to do with correcting the parish's problems with flooding, traffic, and other development issues.
