Several people are in the hospital following a traffic accident on Monday morning involving a Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office unit.
The sheriff's office says somebody rear-ended the patrol unit on Clearview Parkway near West Metairie Ave. in Metairie, knocking it across the median.
Parish officials didn't mention the condition of the people who were hospitalized, or whether a deputy was one of them.
The accident also damaged a fire hydrant and a traffic signal.
