Broome Addresses Crime In State Of The City Address

Baton Rouge Mayor Sharon Weston Broome says the city and the parish are experiencing a crime epidemic.

During her State of the City address on Wednesday, Broome says the city plans to spend nearly $2 million on new technology for the police, and to expand violence prevention programs.

The East Baton Rouge District Attorney's Office says there were 149 murders in the parish in 2021, making it the deadliest year on record.
