A 14-year-old from Harvey is the 2021 SportsKid of the Year.
Sports Illustrated Kids announced on Wednesday that the honor belongs to Zaila Avant-garde.
The teen holds three Guinness World Records for her basketball dribbling skills, and she finished first place in the 2021 Scripps National Spelling Bee.
Gov. John Bel Edwards congratulated Avant-garde in a social media post on Wednesday.
