East Baton Rouge and Ascension Parish leaders say they plan to work together on flood mitigation for Bayou Manchac.
Fred Raiford, EBR's Director of Transportation and Flooding, says the idea is to clear the bayou of all obstructions, including fallen trees.
Ascension Parish President Clint Cointment says it makes sense to work together on the project, since "water knows no parish boundaries."
The goal is to make it easier for the water in Bayou Manchac to flow into the Amite River.
